This weekend I lost my Ice Hockey virginity. OMG what a crazy sport, very fast, very skilled and very entertaining. The players are incredibly graceful when skating- both backwards and forwards, and the speed with which they turn is something else. The puck controlling is gravity defying and difficult to follow, much concentration is needed. My title refers to the total disregard for life and limb that is part of the game, players bounce off walls and each other, no wonder they wear so much padding. The only negative point was the cold, I thought I had enough layers on- wrong! Very good fun though, hopefully to be repeated. Husband chops is off on his travels again, Zurich this time, So it's just me and the dog. The dog who reeks of garlic. Nice. As part of Keiths (the dog) training, we've been trying to find treats that he wants above every stick, leaf and distraction in the world. Having tried all the branded treats (organic, cheap, meaty, fishy, expensive, VERY expensive,...
Today the man who killed my friend has been found guilty of her murder. I didn't think I would care about the verdict, but I do. He was a serving police officer, someone who we trust and turn to in times of fear and danger. He didn't protect his wife, he killed her. She was tiny, slim and pretty. Funny and loyal. Since this awful crime, her dad has died, without seeing justice for his girl. I find this very difficult to deal with. Not having, or wanting, a religion there is no comfort of an afterlife. Feeling of inadequacy haunt me, so many if only's, but nothing will change the fact that he killed her and she is dead. Jill Davies my first best friend x
Blimey it's cold. Didn't stop the dogs having a canal swim this afternoon though. That's them in the distance! Me and husband chops decided against a swim in the murky Grand Union. Had a lovely outing to Delapre Abbey yesterday with my youngest daughter, Good food, Unique gifts and lots of giggles. A real treasure of a place that we're lucky to have on our doorstep. Have given up trying to book a holiday, too many lies from cottage owners. Which is very sad really. Real Baklava from a little Turkish bakery, Truly delicious. God I'm greedy and boring!
