In the deep midwinter...
...or not. We seem to be avoiding the snowy nonsense in the shire, It is cold but the white stuff has taken a look at Northampton and turned left! Can't say I blame it. Our beloved council is cutting road gritting routes to save money, Our Close opens onto a steep hill, that is a bus route and also a school bus collection point. No potential danger there then, no need for gritting.
Husband chops is on his way home from Europe, hopefully, Stansted will be open as his bloody flight has already been delayed for several hours, God knows what delays will be like if the brexit cock-up doesn't get sorted soon. I like the occasional trip to Europe but have no idea how customs etc will function after our departure. Still that's ok because neither does the government Boom Boom. I do worry that people think "they" will sort it all out, and that "they" will also make sure there are no food shortages, medicine issues or travel problems. Personally, I think "they" are running around like headless chickens, trying to save their own arses rather than thinking about the shitfest we are embroiled in.
My walking ambitions are going well, the hound is enjoying his almost daily swims in the local lake, and I am striding out merrily, enjoying the bright days we have had lately. I don't know if I will make the 1000 miles in a year task, but I am mostly enjoying trying.
I have been knitting odds and sods for the grandchild, My sock knitting, however, has been under par. Two pairs accidentally ended up in the tumble drier and shrank, and one pair were too small. I realized when they were finished that I had used the wrong size needles! forty plus pairs of socks and I didn't check the needle size Doh. Oh well, a nice donation for the charity shop *sobs *.
We have had some building work done on the kitchen, which looks good but took forever. It's still not finished but the builder has disappeared. Oh well, we can finish it ourselves, just glad he's not doing the big extension work. The house is covered in a layer of dust and grit, if you walk barefoot across the kitchen you get a free foot exfoliation. We also have many, many boxes in the hall, which will at some point become a kitchen floor, tiled walls and light fittings. Hopefully, we will have a functioning kitchen at some point in the near future....
