No reason for the title, just the Van Halen song of the same name as my current earworm. Strange things earworms, quite often they consist of a song you don't even like, Why is that?
Life trundles on in the Shire, The husband is replumbing the radiators, replacing knackered copper pipes with plastic. We had a new boiler fitted and the old pipes turned into an irrigation system! not good. It's a good job he's a practical chap as well as being super intelligent and incredibly kind. At the moment he's in Europe somewhere with work. He travels a lot and I miss him, but not as much as the dog does. The mutt sulks as soon as he spots a suitcase!
Talking of travel, we had a little jaunt to France. Rouen to be precise, very quaint and well worth a visit. The channel tunnel was it's usual slightly smelly and very hot self, but I do love it and all it stands for. When we cooperate stuff gets done.
The garden is looking good, I have a new rose "Jude the Obscure" from David Austin roses. I ordered it online and was slightly concerned about how it would look when it arrived. I shouldn't have worried, It came in a huge cardboard box, in a perfect condition. I have honestly never seen a rose look so healthy, A perfect goblet shape and immaculate glossy leaves. Perfect!
The tennis frenzy is upon us again. I am quite indifferent to the sport, it's the media coverage that does my head in! Why would I care that a posh semi-royal tart in a hat is going to watch a game? Why does every z-list celeb warrant a description of their (usually hideous) outfit? Who cares how much the bloody strawberries cost? grrr!
Last weekend was Glastonbury, I love to watch it.....from my comfortable sofa, on a HD
tv, with a nice chilled glass of wine. Shit! how old am I? I thought Radiohead were fabulous, they've been "my" band for many years and they enchant me still. The Foo Fighters less so, I've seen them live and they are VERY LOUD and Dave Grohl is a superb lead man, But I found their Glasto performance very self-indulgent and drawn out. Biffy Clyro knocked my socks off, they were fabulous, I would love to see them live, As long as I can have a seat. The mosh pit is my idea of hell. I am very old.
Well, that's enough waffle from me, the fish need feeding and the garden needs watering.
p.s. The photo is of Budge, he was 12 yesterday.
